A massive fire erupted earlier Tuesday in a green belt located inside NUST’s H-12 campus. According to reports by students and people living in the neighborhood, high flames were seen erupting in H-12 where the main campus of Nationa University of Science and Technology is located. The smoke engulfed other sectors and the Srinagar Highway, which is one of the busiest routes in Islamabad. Luckily, no injuries were reported. Authorities were able to put out the fire before it could spread further.
More than a dozen such forest fires have been reported across Pakistan in June so far. Pakistan is among the most affected nations due to climate change. Unusual seasonal changes, melting glaciers, forest fires, and frequent heat waves are some of the effects of climate change that the nation is facing.
