Mardan Police Launches AI-Powered Security System For Better Services
KP Minister Atif Khan has launched two projects; AI-enabled security tech and Automated File Management System in Mardan to better facilitate citizens.
On Thursday, Atif Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science and Technology, Food, Sports, and Youth Affairs, launched Mardan’s AI-powered Pilot Safe City Project and the Paperless File Management System in the deputy commissioner’s (DC’s) office.
Both projects were created in collaboration with the KP IT Board, District Police Office Mardan, DC Office Mardan, and the National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) University of Engineering & Technology.
Under the safe city project, the Mardan Police Department city will receive 75 CCTV cameras installed along three 21-kilometer-long routes for monitoring and security purposes in Mardan. The project would be completed for Rs8 million. One of the project’s most significant features is that the AI-powered systems will significantly reduce human involvement in monitoring live events captured on CCTV cameras, eliminating the risk of human error.
The security system would be linked with police control, which would help to identify suspects.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Safe City Mardan Project includes a holistic approach to achieving a safe city by deploying surveillance systems at critical junctions smartly and safely. The system has a facial recognition feature backed by Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will enable the system to detect weapons, mobs, boundary breaches, and camera tampering.
Automated File Management System
Paperless File Management System will automate the DC’s office’s file tracking system to streamline internal work and document flow between the Commissioners’ offices and the DCs, and then to the teams involved in supporting the tasks.
These highly-innovative projects will provide KP citizens an opportunity to engage with a responsive and efficient government.
According to Atif Khan, the project is in line with the Digital Pakistan vision, which aims to develop and improve security in cities by using advanced technology to ensure the safety and security of the citizens. It is surely an effort to address current and future generations’ security concerns.
He further said,” He concluded by stating that the file automation system at the DC offices is part of our vision of bringing efficiency and transparency in the public interest to keep track of tasks assigned and reasons for delays.”
