Musk tells Twitter staff to work for long hours or leave

Elon Musk has told Twitter staff that they must commit to working “long hours at high intensity” or else leave the company.

According to the Washington Post, the new owner of the social media firm stated in an email to employees that if they wanted to stay, they should agree to the pledge.

Those who do not sign up by Thursday will receive three months’ severance pay, according to Mr. Musk.

Mr. Musk, as reported by The Guardian, stated that Twitter “will need to be extremely hardcore” in order to succeed.

“This will entail working long hours at a high level of intensity. Only outstanding performance will result in a passing grade “He stated.

Workers were told that if they wanted to be “part of the new Twitter,” they needed to click on a link by 17:00 EST on Thursday.

“Whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful,” he added..

Musk says ‘no choice but to work

Elon Musk stated that he had “no choice” but to make the cuts because the company was losing $4 million per day. After purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, the world’s richest man has already laid off half of its employees.

He blamed a “massive drop in revenue” on “activist groups pressuring advertisers.”

According to reports, the entrepreneur told Twitter employees last week that remote working would be discontinued and that they should be ready for “difficult times” ahead.

According to Bloomberg, the owner of the social media firm stated in an email to employees that employees would be expected to work at least 40 hours per week.

Mr Musk went on to say that there was “no way to sugarcoat the message” that the slowing global economy would hurt Twitter’s ad revenue.
