Xiaomi Mi6 Launched with Dual Camera and no Headphone Jack

Dual Camera and no headphone jack. That sounds like iPhone 7, right? But hold on because Xiaomi has just launched its flagship Mi6 with dual camera and no headphone jack, only that it will cost around $360!

After months of rumors, Xiaomi has finally launched Mi6, the successor to Xiaomi Mi5 which was announced at Mobile World Congress in 2015. Xiaomi skipped this year’s MWC and as expected, many questions were raised.

Xiaomi has been facing a hard time with new rivals like Vivo and Oppo penetrating into the Chinese smartphone market. At one point, the CEO even confessed that the company has entered a “transitional period” after growing too fast. However, the launch of Mi6 with some strong specifications will win it back the lost position.

Xiaomi Mi6 Features

A glossy stainless steel chassis features a four-sided curved 3D glass which is also splash-resistant.

The leading feature remains the wide-angle lens cum telephoto lens powered dual camera on the back. The two 12 megapixel sensors will enable up to 2x optical zoom without any loss in the quality plus some fancy bokeh effects to play around with. A maximum of 10x optical zoom can be achieved but of course, that will cost some lost pixels.

The 8MP front camera is very decent for a smartphone in this budget line.

Xiaomi has introduced three 5.5-inch models of Mi6. The entry model with 64 GB of storage at $360, the next with storage up to 128 GB and ceramic edition. The entry-level model will cost about $360, which is way lesser than what other smartphones with the same specs cost.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with a clock speed of 2.45GHz and Adreno 540 GPU. The same chipset is being used in smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus and Sony XZ Premium.

Xiaomi is promising that the huge 3350 mAh battery will push the life to a full day, thanks to Xiaomi’s own optimization control technology in the Surge S1 chipset that was announced with Mi5.

The Chinese leading smartphone maker is using MiUI which based on Android Nougat 7.1.1.
