Xiaomi announces the all new Mi Mix 2

Mi Mix 2, the successor to Mi Mix, is being announced by Xiaomi at an event held in Beijing, China. The phone is following the trend on bezel-less display making it look like a next-generation phone.

The updated design has an aluminum alloy frame, ceramic backing and rounded corners and sides. It has a 5.99-inch display screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio and 3,400 mAh battery and  Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9.

Minimal Design

The slim bezels increase the screen space giving it a more user-friendly and appealing design.  The Mi MIX 2 switches piezoelectric speaker solution from the Mi MIX, has a smaller speaker placed between the top edge of the phone.

A fingerprint scanner is present at the same location as in Mi MIX.

Specs

Besides the design and display, it has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor,6 GB of RAM and 64 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB of built-in storage. Apart from that a Special Edition of the phone offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which along with a ceramic back, has a completely ceramic unibody.

What’s not present?

Besides a long list of exciting features, there are some features that are missing in the sequel of Mi MIX. The headphone jack will not be present in the phone, which would be a downside according to many users.  Apart from that, there isn’t going to be a wireless charging option having a USB Type-C port in the bottom of the device and single-lens camera instead of a dual-camera set-up.

Not just for China, any more

According to Xiaomi the Mi Mix 2 is a truly global smartphone with 40+ network bands that can be used almost anywhere in the world, including the US.

Mi MIX 2 has the perfect handleable size with maximum screen space. The camera and notification light are placed below the screen. The phone is expected to cost $506, while the “Special Edition” ceramic unibody version costs $720.

The phone is expected to be launched on 15th September in China.
